New Potting Soil
Lyssa and I don’t have a great track record with house plants. I’m convinced that one reason is we never repot the plants. When you get a plant as a gift it usually comes in a pot where the plant is already maxed out. It doesn’t work for the economy of the plant seller to send too much soil with the plant.
But plants need nutrients. They get some from the water and the sunlight but they also need the nutrients held in the soil. But a plant will suck the soil dry of all the nutrients over time.
Further plants need room to grow. As the plant grows, the roots spread out and go deeper, until they can not. That’s why repotting is necessary.
Do you need room to grow? Has the soil where you are “planted” become nutrient poor? Then it may be time for repotting in your life. But don’t get carried away. The true source of life is Jesus. If you are firmly planted in Him and His Word then you have a source of limitless nutrients and room to grow for He is infinite.
Get yourself in His Word and you will see growth and health and more stable deeper roots.
Psalm 1:3
They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
